Mujeres Balance,nos invitaron a un recorrido gastronómico con la Chef Lorena Garcia en la Nueva Chevy Equinox 2018. Recorrimos varios mercados de la ciudad donde Lorena nos dio sus mejores tips.

  1. Empieza por los extremos del super mercado, acá estan las frutas, verduras y carnes. Normalmente en la mitad del mercado esta todo lo procesado.
  2. Al comprar pescado, mirale los ojos que no estén nublados. Cuando tocas el pescado este debe hundirse pero volver a su estado inicial, si se queda con el hundido no esta fresco.
  3. Cuando compres cilantro, ponlo en un vasito con agua para que te dure más.
  4. Guarda los huesos del pollo, te servirán para hacer un buen caldo.
  5. Compra y cocina con muchos colores, que tu plato tenga variedad de colores.
  6. El sofrito es la base de todo: Cebolla, apio, zanahoria. Puedes cocinarlo y congelar pequeñas porciones para tenerlas listas y cocinar en cualquier momento con sabor.

GROCERY SHOPPING TIPS

We were invited to a gastronomic tour with Chef Lorena Garcia by the New Chevy Equinox. We toured several markets in Miami and Lorena gave us her best tips.

  1. Start at the corner isles of the super market, here are the fruits, vegetables and meats.
  2. When buying fish, look at the eyes of the fish and make sure they are not cloudy. When you touch the fish it must sink but return to its initial state, if it stays with the sunken, it is not fresh.
  3. When you buy cilantro, put it in a small cup of water to make it last longer.
  4. Keep the chicken bones, they will serve to make a good broth.
  5. Shop and cook with many colors, make sure your plate has a variety of colors.
  6. The sofrito is the base for everything: Onion, celery, carrot. You can cook it and freeze small portions to have them ready and cook at any time with flavor.
